Simonds, Robert H
Robert Henry Simonds, 77, of Jacksonville, died Saturday, April 28, 2007, at Jacksonville Convalescent Center in Jacksonville. He was born January 20, 1930, in Carrollton, the son of Leo and Helen Josephine Kirbach (Kirback) Simonds. He married Vida L. Sitton on September 16, 1949, in Roodhouse, and she preceded him in death on June 6, 1999.
He is survived by two sons, Rodney L. (wife, Karen) Simonds of Jacksonville and Robert Neil Simonds of New Berlin; three daughters, Susan K. Simonds of Galesburg, Nancy (husband, Mike) Wolski of Pleasanton, California, and Robin Musch of Jacksonville; sixteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; one brother, Leo E. (wife, Evonne) Simonds of Houston, Texas; and his dear friend, Marilyn Lee Nolan of Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by one son, Stephen Carroll Simonds (surviving wife Sigrid of O'Fallon); one brother, James Franklin Simonds, one sister, Nellie Virginia Simonds Black, and one nephew.
Mr. Simonds was a carpenter in the Jacksonville area for many years, and had worked in maintenance at Four Rivers. He belonged to Carpenters Local 904 for over 50 years, and was a member of A.F.S.C.M.E. He was a longtime member of Central Christian Church and a member of E.M. Husted Lodge No. 796, A.F. & A. M., in Roodhouse. He enjoyed spending time with his family, attending his grandchildren's activities, watching car races and collecting El Caminos.
Services were entrusted to Williamson Funeral Home of Jacksonville, Illinois.

Simonds, Vida L
Vida L. Simonds, 70, of Jacksonville, died Sunday morning, June 6, 1999, at her residence.
She was born Feb. 10, 1929, in Roodhouse, the daughter of William Thomas and Flossie Cleo England Sitton. She married Robert H. Simonds Sept. 16, 1948, in Roodhouse, and he survives.
She is also survived by three sons, Steve (wife Sissy) of St. Louis, MO and Rodney (wife Karen) and Robert N., both of Jacksonville; three daughters, Susan (husband Jeff) Yutzy of Athens, Nancy (husband Michael) of Pleasanton, Calif and Robin Musch of Arenzville; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Wells of Roodhouse and Iris Range of Jacksonville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Ellis Sitton; and four sisters, Avis DeLong, Lucille Rutherford, Marian Sitton and in infancy, Marjorie.
Upon her graduation from Roodhouse High School in 1947, Mrs. Simonds received the D.A.R. Award. She was a member of the Central Christian Church and was employed with E.M.I. for 25 years. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her greatest joy was in attending the many activities of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Williamson Funeral Home. Private burial services will be held at Carrollton City Cemetery at a later date.

Sitton, Flossie C
FLOSSIE CLEO (ENGLAND) SITTON, 90, died October 17, 1983, at her residence in Roodhouse. She was born October 13, 1893, in White Hall, a daughter of Joseph and Nancy (Allen) England.

She married William T. Sitton, Jr. June 22, 1909 and he preceded her in death in July 1946. She was also preceded in death by three daughters, a sister and six brothers.

Surviving are four daughters and a son; Mrs. Robert (Lucille) Taylor of Sacramento, CA, Mrs. Gerald (Betty) Wells of Roodhouse, Iris Range and Mrs. Robert (Vida) Simonds, both of Jacksonville and Ellis Sitton of Sherrard, IL.

She was a member of the White Hall Baptist Church.

Services will be at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Roodhouse with burial in Fernwood Cemetery.
