SHE WAS THE DAU OF AMOS & ELIZA PRUITT, AND WAS BORN 3 MILES NORTH OF CARROLLTON, IN GREENE CO, FEB 13, 1828. THOMAS WAS A NATIVE OF TENN AND CAME TO MORGAN CO ILL WHEN 7 YRS OLD, HE MOVED TO JERSEY CO IN 1832. MARY AND THOMAS SETTLED, AFTER THEIR MARRIAGE, IN RUYLE TWSP WHERE THEY LIVED THE REST OF THEIR LIVES. THEY WERE THE PARENTS OF 12 CHILDREN: AMOS L, CHARLES, DECEASED, LUCINDA J, ELIZA E, MARY, CELIA, THOMAS B, GEORGE W, HENRY, DECEASED, ANNIE AND 2 SONS WHO DIED IN INFANCY. THEY WERE OF THAT CLASS OF EARLY INFLUENTIAL SETTLERS WHOSE PERSISTENT PATIENCE, TRUE STURDY MANHOOD AND WOMANHOOD AND FRUITFUL AND SUBSTANTIAL CITIZENSHIP HAVE CONTRIBUTED GENEROUSLY TO THE PROGRESSIVE DEVELOPMENT OF JERSEY CO AND RUYLE TWSP. THE DEMISE OF THOMAS B RUYLE SR WAS KEENLY FELT AS IS THE DEATH NOW OF MRS RUYLE, BY THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY. A FAITHFUL WIFE, A GOOD MOTHER, A TRUE HIGHLY ESTEEMED CITIZEN AND A CHARITABLE AND LOYAL CHRISTIAN, HAS ENDED HER LIFE WORK AND PASSED OVER THE RIVER WHILE HER LOVED ONES MOURN HER GOING. SHE LEAVES TO MOURN THEIR LOSS 8 CHILDREN, 22 GRANDCHILDREN, 18 G-GRANDCHILDREN AND MANY OTHER RELATIVES AND FRIENDS. ALL HER CHILDREN WERE AT HER BEDSIDE AT THE TIME OF DEATH. MRS RUYLE WAS FAMILIARLY KNOWN AS "GRANDMA RUYLE" AND HAD BEEN A MEMBER OF KEMPER BAPTIST CHURCH EVER SINCE IT WAS ORGANIZED IN 1876. "GRANDMA" IN HER HAS SICKNESS SAID: "I AM PREPARED AND READY TO GO AND MEET THOSE WHO HAVE GONE BEFORE." FUNERAL SERVICES CONDUCTED BY REV WM GAITHER, WERE HELD AT KEMPER BAPTIST CHURCH. INTERMENT WAS IN DELAWARE CEM.
