Estate of William Mannering
September 3rd AD 1827 upon application of John Painter to take letters of Administration upon the Estate of William Mannering deceased and this court being satisfied that said Mannering died interstate and the late widow having renounced her right in favor of the said John Painter and he having entered into bond in the penal sum of three hundred dollars for the faithful performance thereof with JACOB PAINTER and Clemons Bateman his securities the following letters of Administration were granted to Wit.

The people of the State of Illinois to John Painter greeting whereas William Mannering late of this County deceased died intestate Therefore you, the said John Painter are by these presents constituted and appointed Administrator of all and singular the goods, Chattels, rights, Credits and effects of said William Mannering deceased with full power and authority to demand, collect,and in a legal manner require and receive all manner of debts due and owing and all other effects belonging to the Estate of the deceased and faithfully to administer and dispose of the same as the law directs.
In Testimony whereof John Brown Judge of Probate for Greene County have here unto set my hand and the seal of said Court at Carrollton this Third day of September 1827

September the 17th AD 1827 John Painter this day was appointed guardian to Mary Ann Mannering, James Mannering, Rachel Mannering, William Mannering, children of William Mannering deceased and the said Painter, having entered into bond in the penal sum of three hundred dollars with John Stout his security for the faithful performance of his guardianship the following letters were granted to Wit

The people of the State of Illinois to John Painter greeting whereas at a Court of Probate held for the said County of Greene on the 17th day of September 1827 you were appointed guardians for Mary Ann Mannering, James Mannering, Rachel Mannering, William Mannering, Jackson Mannering and Eliza Jane Mannering minor children of William Mannering deceased therefore be it known that you the said John Painter are by these presents constituted and appointed sole guardian for the said Mary Ann Mannering, James Mannering, Rachel Mannering, William Mannering, Jackson Mannering and Eliza Jane Mannering with full power and authority to exercise the right and to perforce the duties of such guardianship according to law.
In Testimony whereof JOHN BROWN JUDGE of probate for Greene County have hereunto set my hand and the seal of said Court at Carrollton this 17th day of September 1827.

BE It remembered that on this 2nd day of December AD 1828, John Painter
administrator of the Estate of William Mannering dec'd made a settlement of
said Estate when it appeared from the sale bill that his property sold
amounted to $105.30 1/2 and the Claims Exhibited against said Estate and
paid by the administrator amounted to $17.87 1/2
To Wit to John Morfit 50
to Young Wood 3.00
Administrators Percentage 10.50
fees of this Court 4.87 1/2
Making the above sum of 17.87 1/2
Which being deducted from the above sum leaving a balance in the hands of
the Administrator of $87.43 entered therefore that the said sum be
distributed to the heirs of the said dec'd or their proper guardians in the
following manner to Wit.

Feb 4th AD 1833 This day John Painter guardian to the minor heirs of
William Mannering dec'd rendered a further settlement of the said
guardianship and one of his said wards having attained the age of eighteen
years to Wit Mary Ann Mannering and the said guardian Produced and filed in
Court a receipt from the said Mary Ann Mannering for ten dollars 12 1/2
cents in full of all demands against her said guardian which being deducted
from the sum remaining in his hand on the 6 th day of June 1831 of $67.44
cents leaves %$57.31 1/2 upon which calculating compound interest up to this
date and deducting all expenses leaves now in the hands of the said guardian
belonging to his other wards the sum of $62.14 1/2 cents

Be it remembered that on the 17 day of September AD 1833 John Painter for the guardian for the minor heirs of William Mannering deceased came before the Probate Court for Greene County and made a settlement with the court for his guardianship and it appeared that this was in his hands calculating interest to the date of the sum of seventy-three dollars and seventy-five cents money belonging to his wards to be paid to them as the law directs when they arrive to full age.
